Ulay and Marina Abramović transformed performance art through endurance, intimacy and the unstable boundary between two bodies. This original mixed-media illustration approaches that shared history with exposed lines, layered colour and deliberate distortion rather than a documentary likeness. The image focuses on closeness, tension and separation, treating the portrait as a record of a relationship performed in public. Created in Istanbul, the work belongs to my ongoing series of artists, filmmakers, writers and musicians whose lives became inseparable from their artistic practice. Original Ulay and Abramović illustration by İlker Ortaç, an Istanbul-based writer, illustrator and visual artist.
