Bono’s public image combines rock performance, political visibility and the long cultural history of U2. In this original mixed-media portrait, I move away from a polished promotional likeness and build the face through exposed contours, layered colour and deliberate distortion. The drawing focuses on the tension between stage persona and private vulnerability, allowing familiar features to remain recognizable while the surface becomes unstable. Created in Istanbul, the work belongs to my continuing series of musicians, filmmakers, writers and cultural figures interpreted through a grotesque and underground visual language. Original Bono and U2 portrait illustration by İlker Ortaç, an Istanbul-based writer, illustrator and visual artist.
