Tuncel Kurtiz carried the weight of theatre, cinema and storytelling in a face and voice that became part of Turkey’s cultural memory. This original mixed-media portrait connects the actor with Ramiz Dayı, one of his most widely recognized screen characters, while moving beyond a conventional fan image. Rough contours, layered colour and visible marks emphasize age, authority and vulnerability. Created in Istanbul, the work belongs to my ongoing series of actors, writers, musicians and filmmakers interpreted through a grotesque and expressive visual language. Original Tuncel Kurtiz and Ramiz Dayı portrait illustration by İlker Ortaç, an Istanbul-based writer, illustrator and visual artist.
