Original illustration of Thom Yorke of Radiohead by İlker Ortaç, Istanbul-based illustrator and visual artist.
This second Thom Yorke and Radiohead illustration develops a different side of the musician’s presence: inward, unsettled and sharply individual. Instead of recreating a familiar photograph, I use distortion, exposed black lines and layered mixed-media colour to turn the face into a shifting visual field. The portrait is interested in the emotional texture around Yorke’s work—anxiety, intelligence, melancholy and resistance to easy spectacle—rather than celebrity polish. Its unfinished edges and irregular surface place it close to underground drawing, independent music graphics and contemporary grotesque portraiture. Created in Istanbul, the piece forms part of my continuing archive of musicians, writers and filmmakers whose public images are both influential and unstable. It is an original fan artwork for artistic and portfolio purposes, not official Radiohead merchandise and not affiliated with or endorsed by Thom Yorke or Radiohead.
