Marilyn Manson portrait illustration II by İlker Ortaç.
This second Marilyn Manson portrait develops a darker variation on the musician’s deliberately constructed public image. Exposed lines, compressed features and layered mixed-media marks make the face appear unstable, somewhere between human likeness, stage makeup and grotesque mask. Rather than repeating a promotional photograph, I use distortion to examine celebrity, provocation and the visual mechanics of discomfort. Created in Istanbul, the work forms part of my continuing portrait series of musicians, filmmakers, writers and cultural figures whose identities challenge conventional representation. Original Marilyn Manson portrait illustration by İlker Ortaç, an Istanbul-based writer, illustrator and visual artist.
