Krzysztof Kieślowski’s cinema turns moral uncertainty, chance and private emotion into quiet visual tension. In this original portrait, I approached the filmmaker through an expressive mixed-media language rather than a polished likeness. Dense black marks, exposed drawing lines and unstable colour allow the face to appear both present and distant, echoing the ethical ambiguity and emotional restraint found in his films. Created in Istanbul in 2020, the work belongs to my ongoing portrait series of filmmakers, musicians, writers and thinkers whose work has shaped my artistic imagination.
