Iris Apfel transformed clothing, scale and colour into a radical practice of self-invention. This original mixed-media portrait focuses on her unmistakable glasses, layered presence and refusal of visual restraint. Bold contours and deliberate exaggeration move the image away from fashion photography and toward a more personal, grotesque interpretation of style as autonomy. Created in Istanbul, the work belongs to my ongoing series of artists and cultural figures rendered through expressive and underground portraiture.
