Henry Miller portrait illustration by İlker Ortaç.
Henry Miller’s writing joins autobiography, desire, provocation and the unruly life of the artist. This original mixed-media portrait translates that restless voice into exposed drawing marks, distorted features and layered colour rather than a conventional literary likeness. I approached Miller as a figure suspended between freedom and self-invention, allowing the unfinished surface to echo the directness and disorder associated with his work. Created in Istanbul, the image forms part of my continuing portrait series of writers, musicians, filmmakers and thinkers who challenged accepted forms. Original Henry Miller portrait illustration by İlker Ortaç, an Istanbul-based writer, illustrator and visual artist working with grotesque and underground imagery.
