Fatih Akın portrait illustration by İlker Ortaç.
Fatih Akın’s films move between cities, languages and identities, often finding conflict inside migration, family and belonging. This original mixed-media portrait translates that restless cinematic energy into broken contours, layered colour and visible drawing marks rather than a formal director portrait. I approached Akın as a figure shaped by movement between Germany and Turkey, allowing the face to remain tense, open and unresolved. Created in Istanbul, the work forms part of my ongoing series of filmmakers, musicians, writers and thinkers who challenge fixed cultural boundaries.
